Simone Cap Sleeve Dress, $125

With a weekend full of food, family, friends, and visiting (and chocolate!) fast approaching, the last thing you need to fret about is what-oh-what to wear. Opt for a spring dress in a fresh colour, like a robin's egg blue or a coral (you guys, I don't want to jinx this but...the Vancouver weather forecast for this weekend is 17 degrees and sunny. It is high time to break out the dresses!). Finish your look off with a pair of nude pumps - they'll give you legs for days and go with absolutely everything.

Simone Mixed Media Sheath Dress, $115

I especially love the shape of this Simone mixed media sheath. The long vertical lines will elongate your form, and the gentle curves of the dress are certain to flatter your own enviable curves.

If you prefer a little something in a fuller skirt, try this number. The classic shape paired with the on-trend bird print is a perfect match, and can easily be dressed up and down. We love it layered with a denim vest for a casual chic look!

Gal's Got Options

Mavi Denim Jacket in Mid Nolita (pictured), Nile Green, and White, $98

It often seems like we live with unlimited options, for everything from our coffee order to our shade of lipstick. But, until relatively recently, this array of choices just didn't seem to extend to our jean collection. Sure, we had blue, black, boot cut and straight leg and...um...ok, that's about it. Functional? Yes. Boring? Mmm..a bit.

Happily, the tides of style have shifted in recent years! We can now customize our look with denim in colours, prints, and fits of every possible description. Blue denim is still a vital staple in our wardrobe, but now we can have it in a boyfriend jean, a denim jacket, a button down, or anything else that strikes our fancy.

Plum's got you covered (literally, head-to-toe) in your favourite denim, whatever your fancy might be.

Try the latest variations of the classic denim jacket - a slimmer, more tailored fit in new colours for spring. Play on the Canadian Tuxedo look and wear it over coloured jeans, like these new ankle-length skimmers from Yoga Jeans.

Shop the look: Plum tank with low scoop back, in navy (left), green, black (right), and red, $32. Turned cuff Yoga skinnies, in red, blueberry, and teal (right), $120. Mavi Denim Jacket in Mid Nolita (left), Nile Green, and White, $98.

It Suits You

If you work in an office or otherwise professional environment, chances are you have a kind of unofficial work uniform that you rely on to dictate your wardrobe choices in the early AM. Which means (if you're anything like a certain blogger who shall remain nameless) that sometimes you find yourself stuck in a dressing rut. But dressing professionally certainly doesn't mean you can't be creative - and turn a few heads at the office while you're at it!

So yes, suit up for work if the environment requires it, but this season, kick the uniform habit with a fresh new suiting option! Plum's line of Tobias suits offers silhouettes to 'suit' (had to) every personality.

Tobias Jewel Neck Jacket, $189, and Side Zip Pants, $98

I love this suiting option for two reasons. 1) The jewel neckline is a refreshing change from the lapels on your standard jacket (this jacket also looks impossibly chic over jeans), and 2) Those clean, straight lines on the pants elongate the legs - we're talking legs for days, maybe even weeks.

For an updated and professional office outfit, I'd pair this suit with a collarless blouse in a bright colour or print, like this cobalt blue floral. If you prefer the lighter colour of the suit (first picture), try a similar blouse in a coral shade instead.

How are you planning on reinterpreting the traditional suit this season? I'd love to hear your ideas!

A New Plum Line

We're welcoming a lovely new line of spring dresses to the fold! Tenki features fun patterns, floaty fabrics, and unique detailing and is already heavily represented in this blogger's spring wishlist.

Wear these flirty frocks now paired with an open cardi (I would suggest this one by Kersh) or a denim jacket and opaque tights. Equally fabulous with flats, boots, or a heeled Mary Jane. Then, as the temperatures creep up, layer down and go bare legged with wedges for a whole new look!

Spring is now officially right around the corner, which means it's time to start planning ahead for any special events you have on the horizon. If the new Tenki dresses are a smidge too casual for your upcoming weddings/bridal showers/baby showers/graduations/I could go on, try our in-house line of Simone dresses! They have all the flair and personality of these looks with more cross over formal appeal. Stand by for forthcoming blog post, or check out our newest Pinterest board for more what-on-earth-do-I-wear solutions! Wedding Guest Best Dressed

Colour me Bold

Follow

Image

Colour is a powerful tool in dressing. It can reveal your mood, showcase your personality, and broadcast your confidence. And, because it is so powerful, a lot of people tend to shy away from colour. And to them I say, why? There are so (so) many ways you can incorporate colour into your wardrobe. Whether you want to go bold, bolder, or be the absolute boldest, get colour working for you!

Image

Bold: This look is great if you're interested in testing the colour waters. Ramp up your typical jeans + shirt combo (we love the Canadian tuxedo look, pictured above - surprisingly chic, isn't it?) with a punch of colour. Try a clutch or a statement necklace in any bold colour you love, and voilà.

Image

Bolder: If you're ready to graduate to the next level of colour, experiment with doing a closet staple, like this blazer, in a daring new hue. Anchored with black denim and a top in a classic stripe, the coloured blazer - and the lady wearing it - are the centre of attention.

Image

Image

Boldest: If you really want to turn heads, colour yourself in from head to toe. Choose complimenting shades, like blue and yellow, and add some extra depth to your look to keep it from veering into  'primary' territory. A hint of leopard print peeking out and a chunky gold chain necklace fit the bill very nicely.

Now tell me! How are you planning on rocking colour this season? You can leave me a comment here, on our Facebook page, or tweet me @PlumClothing.
