50% OFF of Simone and wink wink dresses for 4 days only May 3 to 6!
Ever utter those words? While contemplating a purchase recently I made that proclamation out loud... to myself ...in public. I'm sure those who know me are thinking... 'you have a style/age limit?' I hate that we believe we can't just dress how we like, however. So, I instantly reframed it in my head to 'that's just not for me'. Because I suddenly realized that, more to the point, it just does not fit my current lifestyle. Recently I had 18 inches of hair surgically removed....(a hair cut) and I don't miss one inch of it. Sometimes, it's just time for that change. Dresses are something that suit nearly all of us wherever we are on life's map. Like a mate, it's more about finding the 'right' one!
Much like the label name, the dress on the left may just evoke a wink or in the very least, a smile, in your direction. It's bright, lively, all inclusive, doodle looking colour pattern is perfect for the sunny days ahead and would look fabulous with the new crushable hat. And a jean jacket makes a nice companion for the patchwork-look dress on the right. Very comfortable, easy style for every type of occasion. But now on sale!
wink wink cross front sleeveless dress (various patterns available) sale Price: $49
wink wink cross front dress (various patterns available) sale price: $49
Note the back styling of this dress. Because why shouldn't you look as good walking away, as you do walking to! Really easy unstructured fit, but if you feel like upstyling it, why not. Add a belt, to create a bit of definition.
Simone sundress with back buttons (red or indigo) sale price $60
This has been an all around favourite fit for many seasons...comprised of a beautiful stretch fabric, back shirring and mid section slight gathering, makes the fit a breeze for most body types.
Simone sleeveless dress with back shirring (black multi or blue multi) sale price $65
And for a slightly more modern take on the summer dress, yet still accommodating comfort, above, the horizontal brush strokes pattern and bottom knot in this dress creates a slightly less predictable look.
wink wink knot hem tank dress (coral or grey) sale price $44
Dresses noted below are not part of the 4 day special! However, I could not resist sharing them now, because, when summer decides to visit for a few months, let's be ready! And these ultra romantic styles just produce such a feminine, easy summer look. With saving on a Simone or wink wink dress, why not invest in another breezy look before your size is gone.
Spencer + Shaw ruched neck mini dress (NOT PART of the 4 day special) $100 top left

The word juvenile comes from the Latin: iuvenilis "of or belonging to youth," 1620s. While the 1620's is slightly before my time, I do remember my youth. Carefree, worry free and more often than not, care-LESS! Oh the stories we could all tell. One thing we should hang on to from our iuvenilis, is the happy, light hearted feeling. If a piece of cloth does that, why should anyone really care!

The shawl/vest - for 4 days only $49 - divide that by the 4 ways to wear it...you do the math, it's a great deal in 5 colours! (until April 29)
We can now collectively take a sigh of relief *AHH* ...spring is here, we can pack away our winter wears. BAH! Not so fast Samsonite, this is Canada. We're over achievers! Why do four seasons in a year when you can do them in a week! Thus we love our clothing that converts or wears more than one way. I don't mean a solar panel hat, that would be silly.
May I present to you...the ideal April garment! Worn four different ways (one for each season)! The ultimate piece for the fickle nature of....nature! Belt it for a very stylish look and the next day, throw it on as a hoodie for when the sunshine takes a day off!
Look by M basic shawl/vest 5 colours - for 4 days $ 49
I can no more pull this off as a dress than can DT pull off a buzz cut. BUT that's ok, pull it down to waist level add your favourite tank top and wear it as a maxi skirt. Or, if you're one of those fortunate individuals who can wear it as a dress, lucky you, you have 2 possible garments. The colours in this are so sweet and pretty. Wear it as is, or turn a scarf into a shrug which adds a nice compliment for light added coverage.
Maitai bandeau dress $79
Today I threw on these pants and found the self belt a bit too...belty ;)...I don't need any extra in the middle, so I extracted the belt and put it in my hair like a head band. And the tencel is like a second cousin to silk, just flows and is just as light and graceful. I also plan to wear these well into fall with an ankle boot or even my tall boots.
Point Zero tencel wide leg pant (indigo blue) $78
Not to be overlooked, the uncomplicated scarf is capable of so much more. If you're headed on a trip, by the looks of these brief videos, one might only need a couple of garments and a half dozen scarves to convert your looks on a daily basis. Great way to travel light and still be ultra stylish! Check out video 1 and video 2
KW ethnic scarf with tassles $39
Be Young scatter dot scarf $32
Canadian weather...when your new hair cut suddenly gets windswept, or when you send your kids to school in shoes, they return with them needing to be put in the dryer, it's hard to see the whimsical in that! And that's ok because we Canadians seem to go with the flow and adapt to change. And as they say 'the world needs more Canada'.

Bear Dance T shirts - for 4 days only (April 19, 20, 21, 22) $ 25 (more selection in store)
We're in an age where clever, innovative and smart things are being engineered at lightening speed...cars, phones, and even clothing, however, some creations just didn't stick. Like the air conditioned shoes or shoe umbrella. Yet some did catch on, like the low tech, graphic t, and while it can hardly be considered new, it has made a permanent place for itself in the fashion world. The idea is, why say something with your God given, organic mouth, when you can put it on a t shirt! ....Do you hear that? Neither do I, because silence is on the endangered list. So, join the movement, wear your thoughts on your t shirt and you can sit, conserving sound waves, enjoying your Kombucha green tea latte, while madly sketching out your latest inspiration to change the world. Let's explore some of Plum's ingenious and humorous Bear Dance t shirts and what to wear with them.
Needless to say, t shirts go with jeans like children and toys, however, sometimes it's nice to change things up a bit. The cute little skirt to the right, might have been what Red Riding hood, had on with her cape? Regardless, it's a nice little diversion from the usual jeans. Add a little cardigan and it's a sweet, fun little look.
Again, moving away from what's expected, these Tencel wide leg crops are a nice alternative to shorts or skirts in warmer weather. If you need them for less casual occasions, try a pair of laser cut booties or kitten heel sling backs + cardigan or blazer and you've formulated a unique, yet light hearted look.
And possibly you DO want to wear your t shirt with jeans. I'm loving these new in, raw edge crop jeans. To funk up the look even more, maybe feed a twisted scarf through the belt loops, tuck in the t shirt and add a pair of sunnies of course! Kind of a 'girly' version of Huck Finn, but far cuter!
So, you have a sushi date with a Friend? Of course you'll need this t shirt. Works perfectly with these tan trousers, however, various other colours within, means you clearly can pair them with other things.
Bear Dance cat suishi bar (black) 4 day special $25
Point Zero capri pant with jersey woven pocket (black, navy or tan) $75
I think this is a nice little trio. A cheeky little tank top, a crisp blazer and skinny stripe pants. Adding the scarf is a nice touch. If your mid section is an area that you look for ways to camouflage...a couple of suggestions, try a wide belt with the t shirt tucked in or, what I do, stay home, plunk on the couch, eat cheesies with a fork and watch Friends reruns. That's on a bad day! Idea # 1 is far healthier.
Bear Dance 'your secret is safe' t (black) 4 day special $25
Ichi ponte one button blazer (black or navy) $79
Motion ankle pant stripe (blue/white) $78
Were you Valedictorian in school, did you come first place in a marathon or solve the Rubics cube? All commendable accomplishments. Although, when you can bring your 4 year old to laughter from tears after falling or when a conflict with someone is avoided, where the bait was thrown at you like a bear being tossed a raw steak...I'd say that's pretty clever too.

$20 OFF ANY PAIR OF REGULAR PRICE JEANS - IF YOU BUY A REGULAR PRICE TOP! In store only! (details instore)
Who feels they have great genes? Well, I suspect we all have some things we proudly display and some things we'd like to sell for a nickel to someone on craigslist. For me, I hate my digits...don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have them (crooked as they are), after all...they type (as displayed here), point, untie knotted shoes and independently steal frosting from a bowl. Loads of important uses...Fingers? The best you can do to improve them is rings, fingernail polish and put them in pockets. Body? Lots of ways to improve upon what 'yo momma gave ya!'
Black jeans! YES PLEASE! Top them off with a bursting with blossoms, embroidered blouse! A fresh, pulled together look was born. Change of footwear, add a jacket and you ease into a semi professional setting. Sandals and roll up the cuffs and you have an easy weekend look. And comfortable? Wow. Yet they are not leggings (or as I like to call them, SLEEVES FOR YOUR LEGS)!
Oh, what to wear with the white jeans.....anything! The above pictured is a top/sweater/poncho...and so pretty, an absolute gossamer looking texture, so breathtaking in the natural shade!
These jeans were built to last and to look like they were passed down from your grandma! So authentic and vintage, the more aged they get the better they become. To the right are a few options to pair with them. My new fashion crush is embroidery; polka dots make a comeback and the cross over top is comfortable, sexy and very easy to add accessories to.
Jeans and t shirts...a better match couldn't be found on Tinder. Really, one is easy going, the other rugged and edgy looking! The weekend uniform for most of us.
If your DNA is such that you look like you eat Oil of Olay for breakfast...or me, who lost on the beautiful hands lottery…in the end, it matters very little. But along the road of life, it’s nice to put some interesting packaging on all our beautiful and unique assembly of parts!

To be beautiful, you don't need great DNA, just be kind, that's anyone's most attractive look.

Can you just smell spring coming? Come on! As long as you're not down wind of someone's faulty muffler, surely you can smell it on the horizon. Be grateful that you're not on the east coast where emerging crops of fiddle heads are soon to be buried in another dump of white hell! Someone send Mother nature a memo 'Dear Mom, It's April-please send flowers!' Nevertheless, wherever you are...I believe when the time changes we think, evening strolls, afternoon golf games and gardening! Well...has Plum got a crop of dresses for you! Here are just a few featuring designer Claudia Agusti.
If any colour shouts spring it's yellow! It's bright, happy, light and makes your soul feel like it just ate ice cream with a vintage merlot, oops I meant with sprinkles! Regardless, it's a great introduction to spring and welcoming sunshiny days. Designed for superb comfort with classic Claudia style! Well placed darts and gathers AND pockets (to keep your hands out of trouble) Really, designed to be worn and lived in!! ;)
Spencer+Shaw v neck knit dress (2 print options) $87
Just call this a wow dress! Incorporating, modern style with a head turning hue of red. Perfect for spring, but really a great transitional piece that can carry over into multiple seasons. I have long ago abandoned umbrellas (this is Vancouver, we have see-through snow) in favour of hats as I felt I was merely donating them to restaurants or establishments I frequented. If you have not tried a crushable hat, DO! They truly do fold up, to be stored away in your purse or backpack without loosing shape. Serviceability, style and stash away!
Another sensational cut! This time, a winner for those with an hourglass figure, including an extremely flattering neckline, and draping skirt length. Abundant ways to style this, or wear it as is, and why not, it's fantastic as is, featuring a vibrant blue or classic black.
Another dress which features Claudia's attention to detail along with functionality. A dress cut that is universally appealing to multiple shapes, comprised of rayon and spandex, pockets, a graceful neckline and an easy length to accommodate a life of activities and movement.
Welcome to spring...brought to you by, flowers, sunshine and an abundance of hope and possibilities of reboot! The official sponsor of internal happiness and optimism. Don't step in that puddle, you might have to change your attitude!

25% off...leggings! FOR 4 DAYS - March 29 to April 1st.
The argument continues. Are they pants or leggings? Think of it this way...a shopping cart has four wheels, but it's not a vehicle. And if driven down the middle of Granville Street, would elicit police presence. And, well...leggings worn as pants should also (IMHO)! So, unless you're Olivia Newton John filming Greese and it's 1978 or you're a 14th century military Scotsman heading into battle...me thinkest the leggings shouldst remain as leggings! Albeit an almost essential fashion garment...just they are not so much pants! Let's explore some great ways to wear them.
Love love love this sweet, uncomplicated look. The printed tights provide some interest, while the shirt just provides a basic backdrop to the graphic pattern. The shirt, the kicks and pulled back hair gives it a little retro feel. Add a little cardigan and you'll look like cotton candy wouldn't melt in your mouth!
Brushed print leggings (5 patterns to choose from) - until April 1st $18.75
worn with 'BE COOL' basic white shirt - $55
Totally looks pulled together, even with a mid length t shirt. In fact leggings look great paired this way with the addition of the long open front top creating balance. Keeps it from looking like you're exiting from a gym workout, which, by the way is not only great but admirable! Since style is not so much the goal in that case, this helps refocus the look back to fashion.
Orange full length bamboo legging (6 colours) until April 1st - $27
worn with - Emma's closet open knit cap sleeve top (black or navy) $59
She has the look of an angel that just floated down from the dubious clouds above! The tights are perfect for this beautiful top, providing a subdued backdrop.
Orange capri bamboo legging (5 colours to choose from) until April 1 - $25.50
worn with - M floral tunic top $89
Ah...the old married couple, the tunic and tights....completely inseparable and always get along! Nauseatingly perfect together! So easy to accessorize as well, pulling the focus from either is easy to do by adding pendants or a scarf.
Orange capri bamboo legging (5 colours to choose from) until April 1 - $25.50
worn with - PURE tie sleeve tunic dress (bahama and denim) $119
and - KW ethnic scarf with tassles $39
So if you wear them to your pole dancing class.....they're not pants! If you sometimes fall asleep in bed with them and don't notice....they are not pants! If you've worn them with a jog bra...you probably rock that look..... BUT they're still not pants and finally if you could envision wearing them 'a la Kardashian style' to church with a see through top, they are not pants, they are leggings (and maybe a fashion fail as well)!
And to answer the riddle...what has two legs but can't walk? WELL...IT'S DEFINITELY NOT PANTS!

Suzanne M.
