T shirt

MAVI JEANS - MULTIPLE CURRENT styles - 3 days only Feb. 1 - 3 $79. Honestly, if you can't find a pair of these jeans to fit and love....I have no words (which is rare)! I just took a sneak peak at the range on display in my colleague's office, they're amazing!!! The best fit you can get without wearing actual PJ's. Jeans are a staple in everyone's wardrobe! Take advantage of the special. Find your fit!

At my desk sits an old old...old stapler...probably as long as I've been here, it also has been...looking like it's origins are an abandoned junk yard. It really is not a sexy hot pink or chrome, rather, quite an unappealing hue of ugly! Also picture it totally encrusted with stamp adhesive stickers from decades. It's not pretty, after all it has one job, which is not to make me gleefully happy, rather to fasten papers. Wardrobe staples, however, we can assume are the opposite...maybe not outstanding but pleasing. Serving as the anchors of the wardrobes we concoct. Yet, what I call a staple may differ quite a bit from what others call staples! Let's look at a few new arrivals, and I promise they won't be at all, unpretty! ;)

Image

A ubiquitous cut t shirt, 3/4 sleeves and just a juicy, fruity, joy inducing colour to boot! While orange doesn't even have a word to rhyme with it, who cares...it stands alone in it's happy appeal. A sweet departure from many other bold shades such as red. However, it does come in a multitude of other spring shades that will appeal to everyone; a standard, fun,  basic with which to build your wardrobe on, around and with.

Soya concept 3/4 sleeve knit top (6 colour choices) $39

Image

However, if 'bold' is pretty far from what makes you comfortable...something more subdued and light? This sweater is a perfect pull on for the season. Layer it with a blouse (as noted) or alone, under a jacket and even belt it if you want to create your own unique look. Needless to say, it's perfect with skirts, pants or jeans.

Soya Concept pullover sweater (blue sky or lavender) $79

ImageImage

I know this is not a standard colour, however, a fresh and cheerful one! A shift dress is definitely a wardrobe constant, sporting a universally compelling cut. And yes it also comes in the LBD shade of black. And look at this dramatic back view! If you're a little too anxious to show that much of your back, find a lace cami for layering.

Spencer + Shaw twist back midi dress (black or sunset orange) $106

Image

Button down shirts are certainly known to be a go to in most people's closets. Especially the borrowed from the boys, stripe, crisp style. Tuck it in, wear it out and belt it, knot front it, or wear it as outerwear when the weather is warmer over dresses and tank tops.

Soya Concept long sleep stripe tunic (blue stripe) $79

Image

A coat or two is definitely a basic in Canada. And yes, I realize that this one is more of a bold statement. But I had to slip this in as I am simply in love with it. The teddy bear style, faux fur is huge right now. This one is just the right length, a neutral which thus appeals to most everyone and it's irresistible, soft as butter, texture, makes everyone want to hug you.

Kaffe teddy bear coat (camel) $199

Essentials, basics or staples are things we tend to stock regularly...food, supplies and even garments. Originally it was thought over 500 years ago, it was a place where Edward II designated for merchants to trade their goods above board...not to be confused with the office supply chain. The word, it's thought, possibly came from the Dutch or German word (stapel) for pile or heap. Because hangers were not invented until the 1800's. This is what I tell myself! ;)

I'm so excited! The figures are in for Plum's WHITE NIGHTS SCARF campaign from 2018. Almost Five thousand dollars from the purchase of the white scarves will go to Dress for Success. What an incredible win/win/win. You bought a bright scarf for yourself, you lit up the streets with your beautiful selves, some of you bought multiples for many people and in doing so, donated to Dress for Success. This organization, for over 20 years, has made global efforts to empower women to make safer and better futures for themselves. And Plum has been a proud sponsor since it's inception. How great does it feel to be part of this! Now let's look at another bright side...of fashion...for going away somewhere sunny, or for our soon to be spring. Or just because!

Image

A carefree, breezy combination of very cool pieces that are sure to contribute to your relaxation. 100% linen skirt, with a very simple, pull on, knit band; sure to create the effortless, function and style we need on vacation. The shirt is perfect for a bit of coverage and flows well with any wardrobe.

M adjustable side linen skirt (sand or navy) $65

Always and Forever stripe viscose shirt (3 colour combinations) $59

Image

I LOVE this look. Firstly, it's chic...it's light hearted and fresh (the stripe pants are a nice move away from solid bottoms), easy and comfortable, perfect for the warmer climates. BUT there is no reason you can't wear this now. Throw on some boots and for a casual look, a jean jacket... but for work, a blazer or long cardigan! Terrific transitional combination.

Final Touch stripe palazzo pant (black stripe) $85

Final Touch knit textured tie front top (mustard or rust) $59

Image

HOT...HOT..HOT...but in a tasteful way! ;) Another perfect for now dress; all that's needed are layers. Add a cardigan or blazer and knee high or equestrian style boots. The neckline cries out for an eye catching necklace, pendant or even lively scarf. But if it's a southern bound trip you're taking, it provides a soft stretchy fabrication and rich, compelling, neutral colour to coordinate with multiple other shades. Terrific worn with a flowing kimono.

Final Touch high neck lined knit dress (black or olive) $89

Image

Just an excellent, go-to dress for an all inclusive to Mexico. Lots of shirring on the bodice to accommodate whatever size your 'girls' are, a flowing skirt and side slits...for...dancing...dashing or chasing...you know, children! ;)

Spencer + Shaw off shoulder dress (navy/sunset orange print) $106

ImageImage

These pants are EVERYTHING! A perfect marriage of style and comfort. Linen with a knit top band and an excellent, easy leg width. OR a pair of Bermuda shorts, and if you prefer them shorter, simply cuff them up. Just enough stretch to make the pull on factor effortless. Both come in a variety of neutral shades.

M linen knit waist pant (black, navy or taupe) $75

Jag Gracie bermuda short (black, stone or white) $74

Bear Dance 'cat with glasses' t shirt (black) $35

Michelle Melrose v neck t shirt (5 colours) $39

Great when you can take part in something where, you gain something for yourself, it lights a fire in your soul and helps someone else! Like playing the slots and winning. But life isn't all about our clothing or how expensive they are. BUT what's wrong with looking good? My husband tells me my kids are dressed too nicely. Really? I purchase most of them from thrift stores but, I need not buy the fully pilled and holey garments, after all, that will be something they will easily accomplish!

Clever is the new black

Bear Dance T shirts - for 4 days only (April 19, 20, 21, 22) $ 25 (more selection in store)

We're in an age where clever, innovative and smart things are being engineered at lightening speed...cars, phones, and even clothing, however, some creations just didn't stick.  Like the air conditioned shoes or shoe umbrella. Yet some did catch on, like the low tech, graphic t, and while it can hardly be considered new, it has made a permanent place for itself in the fashion world. The idea is, why say something with your God given, organic mouth, when you can put it on a t shirt! ....Do you hear that? Neither do I, because silence is on the endangered list. So, join the movement, wear your thoughts on your t shirt and you can sit, conserving sound waves, enjoying your Kombucha green tea latte, while madly sketching out your latest inspiration to change the world. Let's explore some of Plum's ingenious and humorous Bear Dance t shirts and what to wear with them.

ImageImage

Needless to say, t shirts go with jeans like children and toys, however, sometimes it's nice to change things up a bit. The cute little skirt to the right, might have been what Red Riding hood, had on with her cape? Regardless, it's a nice little diversion from the usual jeans. Add a little cardigan and it's a sweet, fun little look.

ImageImage

Again, moving away from what's expected, these Tencel wide leg crops are a nice alternative to shorts or skirts in warmer weather. If you need them for less casual occasions, try a pair of laser cut booties or kitten heel sling backs + cardigan or blazer and you've formulated a unique, yet light hearted look.

ImageImage

And possibly you DO want to wear your t shirt with jeans. I'm loving these new in, raw edge crop jeans. To funk up the look even more, maybe feed a twisted scarf through the belt loops, tuck in the t shirt and add a pair of sunnies of course! Kind of a 'girly' version of Huck Finn, but far cuter!

Image
So, you have a sushi date with a Friend? Of course you'll need this t shirt. Works perfectly with these tan trousers, however, various other colours within, means you clearly can pair them with other things.

Bear Dance cat suishi bar (black) 4 day special $25

Point Zero capri pant with jersey woven pocket (black, navy or tan) $75

ImageImage

I think this is a nice little trio. A cheeky little tank top, a crisp blazer and skinny stripe pants. Adding the scarf is a nice touch. If your mid section is an area that you look for ways to camouflage...a couple of suggestions,  try a wide belt with the t shirt tucked in or, what I do, stay home, plunk on the couch, eat cheesies with a fork and watch Friends reruns. That's on a bad day! Idea # 1 is far healthier.

Bear Dance 'your secret is safe' t (black) 4 day special $25

Ichi ponte one button blazer (black or navy) $79

Motion ankle pant stripe (blue/white) $78

Were you Valedictorian in school, did you come first place in a marathon or solve the Rubics cube? All commendable accomplishments. Although, when you can bring your 4 year old to laughter from tears after falling or when a conflict with someone is avoided, where the bait was thrown at you like a bear being tossed a raw steak...I'd say that's pretty clever too.

$20 OFF ANY PAIR OF REGULAR PRICE JEANS - IF YOU BUY A REGULAR PRICE TOP! In store only! (details instore)

Who feels they have great genes? Well, I suspect we all have some things we proudly display and some things we'd like to sell for a nickel to someone on craigslist. For me, I hate my digits...don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to have them (crooked as they are), after all...they type (as displayed here), point, untie knotted shoes and independently steal frosting from a bowl. Loads of important uses...Fingers? The best you can do to improve them is rings, fingernail polish and put them in pockets. Body? Lots of ways to improve upon what 'yo momma gave ya!'
Image

Black jeans! YES PLEASE! Top them off with a bursting with blossoms, embroidered blouse! A fresh, pulled together look was born. Change of footwear, add a jacket and you ease into a semi professional setting. Sandals and roll up the cuffs and you have an easy weekend look. And comfortable? Wow. Yet they are not leggings (or as I like to call them, SLEEVES FOR YOUR LEGS)!

ImageImage

Oh, what to wear with the white jeans.....anything! The above pictured is a top/sweater/poncho...and so pretty, an absolute gossamer looking texture, so breathtaking in the natural shade!

These jeans were built to last and to look like they were passed down from your grandma! So authentic and vintage, the more aged they get the better they become. To the right are a few options to pair with them. My new fashion crush is embroidery; polka dots make a comeback and the cross over top is comfortable, sexy and very easy to add accessories to.

Jeans and t shirts...a better match couldn't be found on Tinder. Really, one is easy going, the other rugged and edgy looking! The weekend uniform for most of us.

If your DNA is such that you look like you eat Oil of Olay for breakfast...or me,  who lost on the beautiful hands lottery…in the end, it matters very little. But along the road of life, it’s nice to put some interesting packaging on all our beautiful and unique assembly of parts!

NEW ARRIVALS ARE HAPPENING NOW!!

Really...who wears shorts in winter? Except maybe your boyfriend or the guy from UPS? I remember my Mother recounting to me stories of my Father shoveling snow in below zero weather... 'maybe' wearing a jacket. Is wearing shorts or short sleeves in winter 'a thing'? Truthfully, the majority of people wearing shorts in winter are heading south...spot them in the security lineup at the airport, fully ready to get out of the cold and into the warm! And if that happens to be you, make a detour to Plum first; well known for having the best selection of resort wear. Get to your destination fully ready to do nothing but sit, enjoy, relax.

Image

Forget about digging out, musty old, out of season clothing. Go shopping. Go home, move garments from shopping bag to travel bag...one and done! Easy. If you select well, you can just go with carry on. T shirts are a must have and Plum has an excellent variety to choose from.

Michelle California print t shirt (white) $42

ImageImage

And then there's the tank dress....easy to put on; belt it if you prefer a more accessorized look. And with a simple change of your footwear, and jewelry, and maybe hair up, moves into evening for dancing or dining.

Wink Wink tank dress with curved hem (black, mocha, mulberry or navy) $79

ImageImage

Wherever you're headed...there will be 'night'! Sundown 'will' happen and you'll need at least a light cover. Comprised of viscose this is so flowing, light and easy. No buttons...and very long.

acapella oversized open shawl (black, natural or navy) $79

Image

If you're a pants person, do not pass these up. With the effortless flow of rayon, these are going to be your go to pants for the entire season, not just vacation. Long, wide legs, pockets and a truly rudimentary print these will be a breeze to co-ordinate.

Stevie wide leg pant 100% rayon (black print) $77 IN STORES NEXT WEEK

I may not be headed south or someplace warm and void of precipitation, but I do love what's new and fresh and this is just a hint of what Plum has received for Spring. If you're like me and do not like missing out on your size and colour of choice, be the first to get in and check out what's new and needed.

ps...enjoy your trip!
