I think we've danced long enough with winter. Winter sit down, it's time for Spring. I find myself so fed up with winter, I'd like to box it up and send it to the east coast of Canada where they know exactly what to do with it. Baltic and Slavic countries have the right idea; every year on the first day of spring, an effigy of winter is burned and thrown in the river as a way to welcome Spring....I say why wait, let's do that now.  Let's have a look at some spring looks:

Did you hear the one about the cats who went on vacation from their tough lives? No me neither because that's impossible...Bear Dance makes some seriously silly t shirts. Plum has an extensive collection to choose from.

Bear Dance 'cats in Volkswagen van' (ivory) $35

Trench coats are synonymous with spring. Signifying that it's time to pack away the heavy coats, and now warm enough to put on a lighter one! A great, timeless take on a men's classic.

Soya Concept trench belted coat (sand) $149

Here are a couple of fresh spring options. The Tobias on the left with it's small polka dot print, brings to mind snow drops, one of the first floral emergence.  A beautifully tailored jacket.  And the tan drape front Tobias jacket presents a neutral alternative to black.

Tobias shawl collar jacket (black or navy) $198

Tobias open front jacket with rolled sleeves (concrete, nougat or olive) $149

Maybe as an homage to the suffragettes' of a 150 years ago, (white having been a significant colour), you'd like to implement some white into your wardrobe, or to support a cause ;)...the collarless Point Zero jacket is a fantastic choice to lighten up the season.

Point Zero collarless jean jacket (lt indigo denim or white) $90

Mavi Adrianna glam white rinse (white) $118

Grey is a wonderful transitional colour to springs brights. Not too dark, not too light (as Goldilocks once said). An uncomplicated garment, great for a casual work environment or weekend/off hours. Simple and comfortable, but easy to accessorize.

Ellison slouchy knit tunic (grey or navy) $65

I aim to create a life that I don't need a vacation from (I like that quote)...however a girl can dream...Bear Dance make some of the most light hearted, amusing and nicely fitting t shirts I've found and I'm a bit obsessed with t shirts.

Bear Dance 'I need a vacation' T (black) $35

Great things happen during transition times. We sometimes notice things we'd not normally notice and thus take a different direction, pause to appreciate what we have or get excited by what is to come ...Spring brings with it so much hope (and some great wardrobe pieces) ;)

There is still time to take advantage of Plum's spring coupon offer...Until March 13

I've come to the thoroughly researched conclusion that wasting a lot of money on my children's attire (pretty this and adorable that) is a bad diversion of funds. Clothing seems to serve as more of a convenient napkin for food spills for them. I, however, love them and have my favourites (not my children...GASP!)...colours, styles, cuts and labels like acapella and Wink Wink...for many reasons (Plum's new exclusive labels).  This week let's have a look at some Acapella blouses taken with the stunningly beautiful backdrop of Bowen Island:

Speaking of favourites, this gorgeous blouse could easily be the star of Plum's most recent spring photo shoot.  This fresh, light blouse worn above with shorts can also be worn with a pencil skirt, vintage finish jeans or ankle length pants making it a frequent wardrobe choice.
acapella dolman sleeve blouse (black, lemon or white) $89
One of my personal favourite's is black and white, making it very simple to co-ordinate with nearly any other colour. While this acapella blouse is a very practical business attire addition, the varied polka dots provide a bit of retro whimsy.
acapella front tie with back pleat (black/ivory or white/black) $69
The usual cut and print is not to be found with acapella. The general theme of acapella designs are, fresh, unique and anything but 'basic'. If you're noticing polka dots are big this season, you'd be 'spot' on. A very compelling and feminine print.
acapella cape blouse (red or yellow) $85
I can't pretend to be your 'Fashion Godmother'...but I can tell you if you head into one of Plum's locations one of their staff are a pretty close proximity! Ask to see the many, unique to Plum, acapella blouses. Or, if you're in search of new trends and styles to try, Plum staff are happy to help you pull together some great looks for spring.

Unless you're new to the planet, you can already tell spring is right around the corner, at least in Vancouver. With it brings a compulsion to clean out the garage, start gardening or resuscitate one's wardrobe. If procrastination is one of your favourite pass times, the latter is probably the preferable choice. Plum is fully ready with some gorgeous and reliable, yet distinct design features, you won't find anywhere else.

Welcome back spring! We missed you.

The front email dress is destined to be a huge hit this season. I think it captures the freshness of the season perfectly. Very flowey, drapey fabric and a delicate print. But it's also what cannot be seen that's also so great.  Very well structured, fully lined and barely visible pockets. A great, unexpected feature.

Simone sleeveless dress with front pockets (navy or pink) $129

When spring starts to peak out at us, one of the first things we notice is, the days are starting to get longer...brighter. Plum's Acapella has a uniquely special way of interpreting the spring blouse. This is such a delightful pattern set against an easy fitting, yet sheer fabric. Way to bring back the brightness Acapella!

Acapella dolman sleeve blouse (lemon, white and black) $89

Tank tops are a great wardrobe staple. They work so well with suits, or as above with jeans etc. And yet, this Acapella blouse has been re-inspired featuring a retro neckline and another touch of the feminine with the small back button fastening...Some small, yet special design features puts this just a step ahead of a basic.

Acapella sleeveless cowl neck blouse (navy, pink) $69

The cut of this dress was such a hit last season, it's been redone with a very fresh, seasonal pattern. Just the right length, cap sleeve and a great mid section design feature that looks just like that, like a design feature but can cleverly disguise the middle (if need be)!

Simone cross over dress (royal, jade, orange or blue/red prints) $125

So you can put away your boots, heavy coats and unpack the sling backs...Spring has sprung and with it comes the great, much anticipated spring wardrobe options. THIS is just the tip of the iceberg...sorry icebergs are so last season....I meant to say 'blossom'!

Smart, bright, fun....in this case, I'm talking about the Plum label Simone. Have you tried a Simone dress? Attention to detail is key with a great dress, something Plum takes very seriously. And the most important detail of all, is how it makes you feel. The Simone brand is designed and manufactured right in Vancouver with all types of women in mind.  So, not only will you find a fit for you, knowing you're cutting down on the carbon footprint, completes the good feeling. Let's have a look at some new creations:

This is so fresh and fun. The graphic print has so many colours, there would be no problem matching shoes, cardigans, shawls or accessories. Or pick out one of the colours for nail polish! The cut is loose and easy and features a v-neck and a very accommodating, stretchy back panel.

Simone racer back dress (2 prints) $110

If you're looking to explore your feminine side, this dress can help. A great dress for a wedding event, or just because (Who needs a reason to feel pretty). Comprised of 97% cotton and a hint of spandex. Exquisite floral print over jacquard texture, with back zip and pockets. Just beautifully fitted to compliment the curves.

Simone flared v-neck dress with pockets (white/grey or white/navy) $129

This is a darling little number. I love how the addition of the sky high red heels helps diffuse the cute factor. OR go all the way with the cuteness....kitten heels and cropped cardi. It's all in the feeling.

Simone cap sleeve dress with flared hem $129

There is nothing like jersey to accommodate the comfort needs. However, no compromise has been made with regards to fit, fabric choice or design features. A dress for many types of requirements. Gorgeous blossom print, button front keyhole, neckline and pockets complete this design.

check your closet...

Spring is at our doorstep. Feeling more than ready to trade the dark for the bright? It doesn't take a brain comprised of pocket change to realize it's time to evaluate the old from storage, and invest in some new pieces. While we're anxious to throw off the heavy layers, there is this in between time, where the the slight chill in the air means light weight layers are needed to transition from the winter cold to summer 'chill' (as in attitude, of course). Lets have a look at some Plum picks to help inspire you:

Cropped bleached Mavi denim jacket gives just the right amount of coverage. Love the feminine take on this classic jacket. Works so well (as above) with a maxi, t shirt weight dress. Weather permitting, slip on a pair of gladiator sandals, or, if not... flats. Great easy, relaxed Saturday vibe is the result.

Mavi Rosi jacket $98

Michelle gathered neck dress (black or charcoal) $69

Needless to say, we're not quite ready to shed all the layers just yet. Plum has a great selection of light, fresh looking sweaters such as the one above. Pair with your favorite jeans and you have your weekend look.

Miracle oversized sweater (coral, navy and ivory) $65

Mavi French terry comfort jean $98

If tight jeans are not your thing, invest in a pair of Dish jeans. These reinvented carpenter jeans have an unpretentious, relaxed feel. Keep them from looking 'too' relaxed by simply adding a funky sandal or bootie (heels are great with this look). Worn above with a graphic, boatneck sweater, open toe wedges and the great boho bag.

Desires Devil graphic design sweater (navy) $55

Dish carpenter jeans $120

Street Level cross body bag $69

And then there are days where the weather just can't decide.....but you can. The sweater is great for these fickle weather days. And the shorts...well they just show of the great quads you've worked all winter on, as well as tempt the sun to stay out!

Peppercorn Habiba crew neck sweater (navy) $62

Plum Ribbed tank (available in 8 colours) $ 18

Mavi Pixie midrise boyfriend short $78

So, get yourself together, roll up your sleeves, put on a pot of coffee and pull out the storage boxes. And speaking of pocket change, don't forget to check the pockets for forgotten change.
