Anything but basic!

Jeans are like what milk is to your grocery list...a feel good, comfortable basic! Today there are ample cuts and styles with fit and comfort in mind, leaving you with no excuse for ill fitting jeans. Yoga jeans have been at the top of the best denim list for many years. We can brag about them being Canadian made however while they use premium fabric, finishes and washes, they do not come at the same steep price of their competitors. As well, there is Mavi with it's unparalleled eco friendly processes.  Lets have a look at a few of both brands:

Image

These are Plum's A-mazing...hottest selling jean. The very sought after vintage finish denim with a skinny cut, high rise and just an incredible stretch, these will be your new go to jeans!! (You will have to buy more than one as you will not want to take them off).

Yoga Italy jean hand sanded $148

Image

Another style to try...Mavi's Alexa used vintage. Great with the basic Tobias blazer (above) but would work easily well with a cable knit sweater and flats.

Mavi Alexa ankle used ripped vintage $118

Image

Here's another great Yoga style, easy peasy pull on high rise legging jean. The comfort of a legging with stretch denim. Designed for a busy, no fuss lifestyle.

Yoga pull on legging style (royal) $99

Image

An effortless, lifestyle cut, this is the Mavi Emma boyfriend vintage. A looser, casual cut for an uncomplicated, relaxed feeling. Play up the girl part with the heels or throw on the Pimsols.

Mavi Emma vintage dark vintage sporty sale price $59

Denim is definitely a way of life here in Canada and how wonderful is it to find a made in Canada brand like Yoga or a brand like Mavi that puts equal importance on the environment as it does it's designs.  Plum makes sure to align itself with such top brands. Be sure to put these on the top of your grocery list!

Happy Sweater Day

GET YOUR HAPPY ON...fall and winter sweaters 50 -70% OFF!

Gladly we've made it past the 'saddest day of the year' (Blue Monday). Created by a psychologist at Cardiff University who believed there to be a specific formula to pinpoint the most depressing day of the year. (We need this?)...Seemingly he wasted his brain power concocting this equation because we have lots to look forward to... the Oscars, NASA's spacecraft landing on Jupiter, Rio Summer Olympics, tomorrow...just to name a few. However, right now we have a cheery little thing called a SWEATER SALE! If sweaters make your wardrobe smile...you'll be grinning from ear to ear.  Let's look at a few happy selections:

Image

Graphic cardigans are a great way to punch up the outfit beneath. As above black and white, all black, or incorporate a graphic t (but keep the image simple and tonal), or add a wide belt.

Cozy casual graphic sweater (black/oatmeal) now $39

Image

Crop tops and sweaters have made a comeback recently. However, no need to suddenly drag out all of our 1983 Madonna albums and lace gloves...as you can see, this is an updated version with an easy casual look, worn with a shirt or t shirt exposed.

Kersh cropped sweater (blue burst) now $37

ImageImage

Is this a poncho or a sweater? Perhaps both? Can easily be layered over a jean jacket or stands alone as a pullover.

Look cross stitched poncho (black or tan) now $34

Image

Simple pullover with stripes. Easy to co-ordinate, wear it with a belt and crop pants or pair it with a blouse and jazz it up with a statement necklace.

Press striped aline sweater (asphalt cream) now $32

Image

Maybe you need a little bit of print variation. In keeping with the winter tones, this sweater has a multitude of various colours, created with a nice long line and pockets.

Point Zero cowl neck jacquard sweater (black) now $32

If sweaters make you break out in a huge wide grin, or warm up your insides like hot cocoa, Plum has a glee inducing selection AND ON SALE!! What more could you need...A mathematically calculated happy day? I think we've already figured that out!

Have a Happy Sweater Day!

"Changes"

Until Jan.31, 2016 you could win your online purchase. View the resort wear collection and details here.

The year has begun on a slightly sad note with the loss of David Bowie. A visionary, an explorer of sound and style. One lesson passed on by the icon was don't remain stagnant, try something new, explore, investigate. He did this regularly but without loosing his elegance and signature sound! So we begin a new year, January, the month where struggling to zip up our pants is an Olympic event. A perfect time to check out what's new for the season and the year. Change is in the air!

Image

Start off 2016 with a bouquet of yellow carnations and large polka dots. Pump up the happy with sleeves that emulate the wingspan of a humming bird. Great way to knock down the seriousness of your office suit.

Acapella (made in Vancouver) cape blouse (red or yellow) $85

ImageImage

Speaking of suits, if your staple jacket ends up in the washing machine by a well meaning spouse....(did I say that out loud?), it's likely time to replace it. Rock it up with broken down denim, or put it together with it's matching pants for work. A wardrobe basic.

Tobias (made in Vancouver) 2 button jacket (black or charcoal) $189

Tobias (made in Vancouver) slim leg pant (black or charcoal) $95

Image

The pattern of this blouse hints at the 70's era. A great look for the adventurous. Love it paired with the long vest, but lends a good, bold spark to the suit jacket as well.

Acapella (made in Vancouver) sleeveless blouse (ecru or yellow) $59

Kerisma Percy long cardigan (black or white) $79

Image

"Time may change me..."....Once again, a basic style tank invites the fun in with the allover print grandfather clock (or cat) print.

Acapella scoop neck tank top (ivory (cats) or blue (grandfather clocks)) $49

Plum has a wide variety of choices, made right here in Canada, which makes spending our bungee jumping Canadian dollars right here, an easy choice.  And if it is time for some change...in the words of the inventor of avant garde himself..."I don't know where I'm going from here, but I know it won't be boring" David Bowie.

Travel wear?

Remember: Until Jan.31, 2016 you could win your online purchase. Just think, your travel wardrobe could be totally covered if you win. View the resort wear collection and details here.

So you have a great vacation on the horizon, nabbed a fantastic all inclusive deal and are ready to go. If keeping the spending smart is another thing on your mind (read some great money saving ideas here), remember, money saved in one area, can be better used in another.  In fact, buying resort wear is like purchasing for the impending season. Let's have a look at what Plum has to offer for a season or a reason!

Image

This fresh, zigzag print is a great find. Easy to pair with any bottom with the wide selection of colours it provides for matching. Also great for various seasons.

Wink Wink batwing top (black/hunter/teal or black/red/pink) $55

Image

This great, easy tunic is an excellent choice for packing; also with multiple choice of colours for matching. I can also see this paisley print working very well with a cardigan and leggings or cropped pants in spring.

Acapella sheer tunic (black/white, peach/multi) $79

Image

Something about turquoise that's so enticing. Perhaps that it conjures up images of fields of forget-me-nots! Sweet and pretty, like this top (with a twist). Sheer enough so wearing something, such as a tank dress gives it a little extra something. And yet another piece that will work so well for spring or early summer.

Plum sleeveless top with draped twist front (black, cobalt, turquoise, white) $55

ImageImage

And of course, there will always be those times when what is needed is, simply a little coverage on the shoulders...this is perfect. Lightweight, a bit of sheer, pretty and practical!

Kerisma Eden sheer poncho (aqua, beige, black, coffee, coral, kelly green, royal blue, teal, white) $59

So if it happens to be that you bring in the new year on a flight to Cancun or sitting on a beach with endless blue sky above, you'll know you're prepared for the right now...and the season to come. Just remember travel is yet another thing you buy, that makes you richer!

Have a wonderful trip!

pack smart, look great!

Remember: Until Jan.31, 2016 you could win your online purchase. Just think, your travel wardrobe could be totally covered if you win. View the resort wear collection and details here.

While the rest of us are scrambling for that last minute 'special' gift or packing for family visits...you will be secretly laughing to yourself...sidestepping all the chaos by heading for warmer climates... an all-inclusive perhaps? (I'll try not to hate you). But why put yourself though torture you've avoided so far by unearthing clothing from four months ago. Do you even know where they are? No worries. Plum has an extensive resort wear collection to help you prepare. Here is a small sample...

Image

  Image

Image

Of course, shorts and t shirts might well be your uniform...at least a staple. Plum has a great, fun collection of Bear Dance tank tops. Cute, silly and make a great conversation start up! Or, if you're still needing to do a gift exchange they're a great option.

Bear Dance t shirts (just a sample of what's in store, above)

ImageImageImage

And of course you need bottoms. Crop pants, shorter or these-are-my-gorgeous-legs length. So many options, you'd think it was actually summer now!

Point Zero capri (curry, diamond, lichen or white) $65

Point Zero bermuda cotton/twill/spandex (curry, diamond, lichen or white) $55

Mavi pixie short denim (ultra blue vintage) $78

Image

Love the pattern of this paisley dress...so eye catching. With a short sleeve, draw string waist and an easy waterfall hem, you can't go wrong with this as one of your dress options (and believe me Plum has many).

Simone V-neck dress (blue multi or red multi) $140

ImageImage

Don't forget, on occasion, you'll need a cardigan or coverup...Choose from many options, I've included just a few above. A crop cardigan or breezy, gauzy kimono. So light it will take up little or no space.

Kersh rib waist cardigan (7 colours) now $35

Cecico kimono blouse (brown or sea green) $59

When packing for a trip out of season this usually presents a unique, lack of selection challenge. However, Plum's large resort collection, removes that stress.  Choose from gorgeous print dresses, light weight pants/bottoms and coverups. When you board the plane 'your troubles will be miles away' (as they say in the song).

Wishing you a fun and safe trip!
