cover looks

"All books are judged by their covers, until they are read" Maryrose Wood. Being judged 'is' a fact of life. However, when I feel fully pulled together, I feel as though people see me, my clothing is no longer the focus, because there is no 'one thing' to distract.  For the most part, do you not find that a jacket pulls together the outfit giving a finished look? A key piece. Maybe it's just me but I adore fall and love my jackets.  My collection is growing and I'd sleep in them if I could.

Image

The fabrication and cut of this jacket is simply exquisite. Most often I find the sleeves of jackets rather large and bulky; these are just perfectly tailored. Don't be fooled by the slightly longer length, falling below thigh level. I've worn mine with jeans and doc's and have seen it worn with a knee length skirt and funky ankle boots. So deceptively versatile, creating a multitude of outfits from one piece, taking you from work, to weekend brunch. It's really a 'try on' must!

Tobias equestrian long jacket (comes in black or grey) $ 220

Image

Isn't this a fun outfit? Yet so doable for a work environment; of course depending on the nature of the business. I love the skinny pants paired with the dangerous heels.

Image

This classic notched collar blazer is so transferrable and convertable. My favorite weekend outfit is (as above) jeans, t shirt and 'the blazer.'  Just so simple and pulled together looking (but comfortable as well).  Just add whatever bit of your own personality you like (scarf, hat) your mood gets to choose.

Tobias notch collar jacket with patch pockets $ 179

The length of the jacket, however, often dictates the balance of co-ordinating pieces. Such as how long the skirt, pants or top would best be to look balanced head to toe. When in doubt, Plum staff are only too happy to help with deciphering the possible perplexities of proportions (say that 3 times). This is a mere whiff of the jackets Plum has in store. There is one for everyone (or 3, if you're me). And so beautifully made and designed; will remain your favorites for years to come (as long as you don't sleep in them).

Plum's Tobias jackets are designed and constructed right here in Vancouver and many have co-ordinating pants and skirts. Take a look at some of Plum's other jackets.

Warm Fuzzies

Plum has the warm fuzzies for you...no really! Every sort of warm, fuzzy, soft, delightful, stunning sweater imaginable. Walking through the aisles was like being in a bakery (minus the potential calories). Yes I was drooling by all the great designs and labels I've not seen anywhere such as those designed in Denmark, Peppercorn and Desires or British designs, Utam and Yumi. Or right here in Canada Jana and Point Zero.

Image

Isn't this a unique sweater? So smart you won't need your glasses.  Lovely, light in weight, long, elegant sleeves and a great twist front that I can see featuring a great statement necklace, eclectic chains, a broach in the middle, or just your lovely smile! The look is yours for creating...just add you.

Press twist front cotton/modal pullover $ 92 (charcoal, black, bordeaux, highland green and (above) russian purple)

Image

The pattern on this magnificent poncho, as you walk away, will have people gasping...ok maybe not but at least you'll turn heads.

French baroque intarsia v-neck pullover poncho $ 75 (cream (above) or midnight).

Image

Roses are red, violets are better, keep the hot weather, I'd rather have a sweater. Ok bad poetry aside, this feminine, sweater dress is an alternative to gardening (or my bad poetry). Black background showcases a repeat rosette pattern with pockets. So great with tights and pumps. Or turn on the edge factor with over the knee boots or Doc Marten's. No pruning required.

Yumi acrylic blend tunic sweater $ 99 (blue or red (above))

The best time to get stocked up with warmth is now, when variety is abundant, so many new labels to explore.  Wait too long and you'll be left out in the cold. (Don't worry, I won't be giving up my day job).

Plum's buyer is going sweater crazy in anticipation of 'cuddle' weather. The front featured cardigan is so soft, feels like chocolate (if Chocolate had a feeling) and looks like an Alpine retreat (a posh one, of course). The open front, snowflake design is long enough to keep the assets warm and features pockets reflecting the shoulder to chest pattern. You'll love Kerisma's take on the grampa style cardigan (Grampa not included).  Super fun. You'll be fighting off the huggers!!
Kerisma mohair, wool combo sweater $ 98

Or, if flakes are not your thing, here's one for the dog lovers. (or maybe red lovers), as, this sweater is such a bold, stunning, gorgeous red, guaranteed to grab everyone's attention as you walk your dog!
Numph Dalmation sweater $ 100.

Musically speaking...I love, how this one has been paired with a short asymetical, plaid skirt. The whimsical piano keys of the sweater reflect so well on the grid lines of the skirt. A sharp edged, angular necklace, pulls in the same colors, completing the look.
Point Zero piano keys sweater $ 72

Continuing on the theme of 'lines'...

I'm excited about this chevron design poncho. Reminds me of the 70's (but in a good way). These are such great multifunctional pieces. Throw over your jean jacket, blazer or clearly they're fine on their own. This season, Plum has many versions of this to choose from.
Do Everything In Love poncho $ 69

Currently so many great sweaters to cuddle up to.  With many more great styles to come we can say, Fall...bring it on, we're ready.

Killer trends

This dress is simply criminal (pardon the pun) how great it looks on everyone (email and below). Initially sold out so quickly, that it's been reproduced by popular demand. Plum staff say it works on nearly every body type, thus it's popularity and why it's once again, flying off the racks. Once I heard this, it simply had to be tried on (by me of course)! The verdict? Amazing, easy, flattering! What else could you want?Image

Lovely cap sleeve, poly/spandex mix makes it easy to get on, easy to care for and easy to pair with footwear. Elevate it to a nighttime, glam look with clutch and stilettos, or jean jacket and tall boots! Comes in multiple other colors and patterns. The waist level bow with gathers feature is so incredibly cute, no one will know it's a bit of camouflage...speaking of camouflage...

Image

I knew I simply had to sneak this into my wardrobe (did I say sneak?) before I even layed eyes on the photo. As I passed by it on the racks I gave it a sideways glance like you do a 'really' handsome guy; not wanting him to know you notice him. The bubble over my head would have said 'I'll be back for you'. Very easy crewneck, 3/4 sleeves, pockets and just long enough to consider calling it a dress. OR DON'T...call it a tunic. Wear with tights and combat boots. Too predictable? Maybe ankle boots with cuban heels (my favorite Fleuvogs). This will be one of my new favorites. Comes also in green camo.

Image

Hard at this point to imagine the cold, but I'm starting to feel it at night. Another great item that can translate from dress to tunic. This beautiful dress, calls for a hug. A lovely textured knit, easy 3/4 sleeves, pockets and a v-neck that's ready to display any lovely accessory of choice.  Comes in purple, green and the ever ubiquituous grey.

Ready or not here comes fall in all it's glory. The dress for the season is here for the picking. Don't be caught with your pants (or dress) down.

Are you ready?

Fall into Jeans - Denim Coupon

Welcome back  fall (almost), I've missed you. Time for a coupon, for return to school, end of vacations and time to put your clothes back on. I meant jackets, boots and pants! It's been an exceptional summer, with lovely sundresses, sandals, short shorts and the occasional ALS challenge...burr!!!

So, the season I love the most...autumn has arrived!! Love the jackets, boots and the urge to wear jeans again is emerging!  And long gone are the days when I was a girl where there were only 2 fits, the guys fit, and skinny girl fit....(which I was not).  And Levi's dominated the scene. Now there are more brands than twitter accounts. Plum has some of the best fitting, best looks in denim. This from a certified denim hoarder.

Image

Mavi makes some wonderfully fitting jeans. With some very innovative denim processes and finishes. Love the Alexa skinny jeans (above).  (nope, I'm still not skinny) but I love that I can wear something that says 'skinny' on the tag. Mid rise typically means that you need not feel like you're wearing your 'mom's' jeans, however, comfortable enough so that you're not spending the day pulling up your kids AND your pants.

Image
The Mavi Molly (above)  have a ubiqitous leg cut. Sophisticated looking,  ideal for pairing with stillettos, and great with boots as they fall just nicely over the width of the boot. The dark finish is a great alternative in many social occasions to black pants. Acceptable in many work environments and worn with a blazer to bring balance to the casual nature of denim.

Image

And of course these super sexy dark skinny (Yoga jeans). I love the rock star influence with the super edgy heel, works well with the zippers.

FEATURED ON OUR EMAIL, the Mavi Jogger are the most amazing jeans I've ever owned. And trust me, I could open my own denim store (ok maybe more of a closet). Made of cotton, eme and elastane, they're like jogging pants in disguise. As they have the perfect denim finish. Don't let the drawstring and elastic waist fool you. While they can endure any and all activities you throw at them, such as you accidentally fall asleep in them, you won't awake feeling like you've been wearing a torture devise. These are very fashionable jeans (comes also in a darker shade). Roll them up for a casual look or down with slingbacks. I purchased several pairs, some to fit snugly with tunics, and some loose, more boyfriend style. You have to have these! Go get a pair now! I'll wait here.

This great coupon features some of the best denim around, Mavi jeans made in Turkey, Yoga jeans, made in Canada, and new  Dish jeans. This coupon is for a limited time, so waste no time pondering. Go and prepare yourself for the season of scarves, hats, apple cider, romantic walks  through the colorful leaves (and then raking them up)!

Kickstart fall with this great coupon. Limited time. Fall will last longer than this coupon.

Coupon details:
  • $ 20 off Mavi, Yoga, Dish regular and black denim
  • August 29 to September 14
  • Dish exclusive to Calgary location
  • cannot be used in combination with any other offer
