Can you just smell spring coming? Come on! As long as you're not down wind of someone's faulty muffler, surely you can smell it on the horizon. Be grateful that you're not on the east coast where emerging crops of fiddle heads are soon to be buried in another dump of white hell! Someone send Mother nature a memo 'Dear Mom, It's April-please send flowers!' Nevertheless, wherever you are...I believe when the time changes we think, evening strolls, afternoon golf games and gardening! Well...has Plum got a crop of dresses for you! Here are just a few featuring designer Claudia Agusti.

If any colour shouts spring it's yellow! It's bright, happy,  light and makes your soul feel like it just ate ice cream with a vintage merlot, oops I meant with sprinkles! Regardless, it's a great introduction to spring and welcoming sunshiny days. Designed for superb comfort with classic Claudia style! Well placed darts and gathers AND pockets (to keep your hands out of trouble) Really, designed to be worn and lived in!! ;)

Spencer+Shaw v neck knit dress (2 print options) $87
ImageImage
Just call this a wow dress! Incorporating, modern style with a head turning hue of red. Perfect for spring, but really a great transitional piece that can carry over into multiple seasons. I have long ago abandoned umbrellas (this is Vancouver, we have see-through snow) in favour of hats as I felt I was merely donating them to restaurants or establishments I frequented. If you have not tried a crushable hat, DO! They truly do fold up, to be stored away in your purse or backpack without loosing shape. Serviceability, style and stash away!

Another sensational cut! This time, a winner for those with an hourglass figure, including an extremely flattering neckline, and draping skirt length. Abundant ways to style this, or wear it as is, and why not, it's fantastic as is, featuring a vibrant blue or classic black.

Image

Another dress which features Claudia's attention to detail along with functionality. A dress cut that is universally appealing to multiple shapes, comprised of rayon and spandex, pockets, a graceful neckline and an easy length to accommodate a life of activities and movement.

Another many times, repeated design by Claudia. Repeated because of it's widely appealing feminine fit. Certainly at this time of year, a jacket is still needed and jean jackets are ideal when you're looking for a pretty, yet casual look. Add a hat and your favourite footwear and that's all that's needed.

Spencer+Shaw sleeveless dress with back shirring (blue print) $120

Mavi Samantha jean jacket (used gold vintage) $98

CH Telly natural mix bucket hat $59

Welcome to spring...brought to you by, flowers, sunshine and an abundance of hope and possibilities of reboot! The official sponsor of internal happiness and optimism. Don't step in that puddle, you might have to change your attitude!

What has two legs but can't walk?

25% off...leggings! FOR 4 DAYS - March 29 to April 1st.

The argument continues. Are they pants or leggings? Think of it this way...a shopping cart has four wheels, but it's not a vehicle. And if driven down the middle of Granville Street, would elicit police presence. And, well...leggings worn as pants should also (IMHO)! So, unless you're Olivia Newton John filming Greese and it's 1978 or you're a 14th century military Scotsman heading into battle...me thinkest the leggings shouldst remain as leggings! Albeit an almost essential fashion garment...just they are not so much pants! Let's explore some great ways to wear them.

Image

Love love love this sweet, uncomplicated look. The printed tights provide some interest, while the shirt just provides a basic backdrop to the graphic pattern. The shirt, the kicks and pulled back hair gives it a little retro feel. Add a little cardigan and you'll look like cotton candy wouldn't melt in your mouth!

Brushed print leggings (5 patterns to choose from) - until April 1st $18.75

worn with 'BE COOL' basic white shirt - $55

Image

Totally looks pulled together, even with a mid length t shirt. In fact leggings look great paired this way with the addition of the long open front top creating balance. Keeps it from looking like you're exiting from a gym workout, which, by the way is not only great but admirable! Since style is not so much the goal in that case, this helps refocus the look back to fashion.

Orange full length bamboo legging (6 colours) until April 1st - $27

worn with - Emma's closet open knit cap sleeve top (black or navy) $59

Image

She has the look of an angel that just floated down from the dubious clouds above! The tights are perfect for this beautiful top, providing a subdued backdrop.

Orange capri bamboo legging (5 colours to choose from) until April 1 - $25.50

worn with - M floral tunic top $89

ImageImage

Ah...the old married couple, the tunic and tights....completely inseparable and always get along! Nauseatingly perfect together! So easy to accessorize as well, pulling the focus from either is easy to do by adding pendants or a scarf.

Orange capri bamboo legging (5 colours to choose from) until April 1 - $25.50

worn with - PURE tie sleeve tunic dress (bahama and denim) $119

and - KW ethnic scarf with tassles $39

So if you wear them to your pole dancing class.....they're not pants! If you sometimes fall asleep in bed with them and don't notice....they are not pants! If you've worn them with a jog bra...you probably rock that look..... BUT they're still not pants and finally if you could envision wearing them 'a la Kardashian style' to church with a see through top, they are not pants, they are leggings (and maybe a fashion fail as well)!

And to answer the riddle...what has two legs but can't walk? WELL...IT'S DEFINITELY NOT PANTS!

My extensive wardrobe of navy blue, deep green and beige has long since been passed on; when my attempts to 'fit in' faded away. There was not enough coffee in the world, to energize those efforts. However, I don't wish to compel my children to feign having never met me, thus, I keep the eccentricity to a minimum. Plum's new Mavi Julliette smoke camo jeans are just the best of stand out, and blend in, combined. Providing the best contouring fit, married with a very common, very now, outstanding pattern. Interesting oxymoron!
Image
I waited patiently for these to arrive and when they did, they did not disappoint. I love Camouflage and I find the smoke grey tones go with far more colours than the standard military green. Designed with an abundance of comfort as well, four pockets and two deep cargo pockets, they are destined to be the pant of the season. Unlikely to be appropriate for courtroom proceedings, otherwise, they will definitely be the most often chosen pair.

From the middle ages until such time as Coco Chanel was inspired by seamen's garb in the early 20th century, stripes were seen as a diabolical pattern. Currently I'd say stripes conjure up an image of brightness and happiness. Despite the rigidness, I find stripes far easier to work with other patterns and colours than one would think.

ICHI long sleeve stripe t shirt (brick red) $49

These crop cuffed pants in camel colour, are yet another convivial hue that helps usher in the spring feeling. Always good to have a few neutral tones that take little or no thought to co-ordinate.

Jag Juliette pant (baby camel or nautical navy) $89

Image

This cobalt blue, waterfall front vest is a must for the redheads. A deep and intense colour, this jewel tone, tends to go very well with yellow, red and even turquoise. Try it belted to add extra style freshness, a pair of black skinnies and a pair of multi tone heels to add to the drama.

M sleeveless vest (cobalt or white) $75

The moto jacket has risen to the top of the trends in the last few years. Ichi has given it a cool, yet sophisticated twist with it's linen/cotton composition. A really nice possible change up for the corporate setting.

ICHI linen blend jacket moto style (straw) $119

ICHI linen blend skirt (staw) $79

Fitting in, likely means you are at home in an environment that is most like you. Blending in, can mean you've adapted to the environment. But if you step out of those and feel more comfortable being different, then you are at home! And home is not a place, it's a feeling!

A couple of shout outs...one to the staff at Plum's Granville location. I stepped in for a mere 10 minutes on the weekend, with two kids in tow and was utterly impressed by the service once again! Thank you! And on this, World Downs Syndrome day to someone very close to me who regularly teaches me, different is who we all are!

$20 COUPON - MIN $95 PURCHASE - OFFER EXPIRES SUNDAY MARCH 25*

How dare I talk about pink. After all, it's like Donald Trump giving a Ted Talk on staff retention. Ok...not quite, because, I respect pink, I dress my children in it, I smile when I see pink flowers, and I would not buy and then get rid of pink. In any case, it's one of the most popular of spring colours. And let's not forget just how many romantic walks take place during a Rayleigh scattering (aka: pink sunset). Pink is...well, a happy colour that generally elicits good feelings. And apparently there is a millennial pink. So, let's explore the colour of now:

Image

This is just 'the' sweetest combination...pink, with crochet lace and paired with denim. Pink truly seems to be at it's best with the ruggedness of denim. They bring out the best in each other.

Cream lace blouse (chalk or sea pink) $79

Image

I think this open front jacket is just a brilliant take on the blazer with the added frill edging. If you're a little too timid to go too feminine, again, as above, wear with jeans and find a fun, graphic or band t to pair it with to offset the girliness.

Cream cardigan jacket (midnight or sea pink) $99

Image

Or...maybe just a light whisper of pink perhaps? Great blouse, fresh and light; love it paired with the pencil skirt but would clearly work well with ankle length jeans or trousers. Liven it up with a pendant or three and your favourite jacket.

Ichi long sleeve blouse (rose dust) $69

Ichi houndstooth skirt (black) $69

Image

Utilitarian + pink = pretty functional. A sweet, simple cut that's sure to appeal to most, with a carefree print which to me resembles pussy willows blowing in the wind.

Ichi dress (dark grey, military olive, navy or old rose) $65

Imagine a world where crows, piano keys or dulse (it's an east coast thing), were pink....hmmm...maybe not! Because really,  there's a good reason why pink is the colour typically associated with anti bullying and fighting breast cancer. Because despite it being a light hearted version of it's angry, edgy, cousin red, the power of pink is in it's softness. Because kindness rules!

$20 COUPON - MIN $95 PURCHASE - OFFER EXPIRES SUNDAY MARCH 25*

On this day of International Women's day, let's remember the countless women, mothers, grandmothers who run businesses, make breakfast, wipe counters and babies tears. And while men take credit for the invention of the zipper, Velcro and even the Wonderbra, the women of this country historically have their own admirable contributions. Dr. Frances Oldham Kelsey, Charlotte Whitton, Viola Desmond, Fannie Rosenfeld, Mary Shadd Cary, Elsie Knott and countless other historic Canadian women, leaders, trailblazers and innovators who's achievements paved the way for so many of our daily freedoms. Plum is a proud supporter of two organizations known for encouraging, both little girls (Big Sisters) and women of all ages (Dress for Success) who some day will hope to reach their own personal goals. Today... for me... I achieved vertical status (aka: getting out of bed), no accomplishment is too small!

Image

Looking fabulous and pulled together requires two things, colours that bring out the best you....and YOU! Gone are the days that blazers come in navy blue and black only. Find them in patterns and all our favourite hue's. I love the ultra feminine shade of pink with the bold intricate patterned blouse!

Kaffe blazer (bridal rose) $119

Creme multi print blouse (multi) $89

ImageImage

Blouses continue to have a place in the casual as well as the professional settings, always creating a sleek image. Today's blouse features an interesting, artistic pattern and open back vent. A unique design feature.

B. Young shirt bird print (black/white/pink) $59

Image

The little wicker bag and a crocheted edge pink top, just tease us towards summer. The little bag, so reminiscent of Sunday school or picnics...so sweet!

Cream lace blouse (sea pink and chalk) $79

Joseph D'Arezzo tan wicker bucket $45

Image

A favourite spring leg length for pants is this ankle length. Easy to pair with different shoe heights, sandals, boots and what's not to love with the vertical stripes.

Motion ankle pant tripe (blue/white) $78
