Weight...yes, I went there! No one wants to talk about it. The only thing worth 'more weight' it seems, is growing a new human! In fact, even those who are 'thin' do not want to hear about it. So, I guess it's best generally to avoid it. However, what if your weight tends to fluctuate because of illness or your weight has changed because of this new little person in your life? And how to dress for this! Just remember though, beauty is not measured in pounds!

Image

The front cover Wink Wink dress is great for weight that's other than steady. After all it neither defines your figure nor conceals it fully. It's just so pretty, that's all people will see! Also great if you are growing a new little person, I'm sure it would be great for a good few months as it's been designed with many gathers, front and back.

Wink Wink pleat dress (2 floral patterns) $98

Yet another great example of fabulous vibrant hue's. The cold shoulder design shows no signs of disappearing any time soon. If definition is what you're after, try belting it, or, maybe you have a favourite chain necklace....have you tried using it as a belt? This works well as an alternative to the usual leather, given that it's a strong enough chain link with adjustable links.

Wink Wink v neck dress (royal, fuchsia or black) $98

This is one of Plum's favourite dress bodies. Season after season this has been reproduced with a variety of beautiful patterns, also suits a wide variety of body types, which is what has made it a very popular style.

Simone front pleat dress (3 prints) $98

Here's another fabulous, swinging fun dress; great for a good night of dancing (think...festival). Love the asymmetric hemline...edgy and totally now and fresh. Try it with a long pendant or variety of your favourite chains.

Double Zero ribbed tank dress (black, brick or slate) $69

STILL CRAVING COLOUR? There is no shortage of it for the season in this bold print top. It's basic shape lends itself to a variety of co-ordinates and the lively pattern can also help distract.

Wink wink cap sleeve t shirt (4 print patterns) $39

Carlton University recently was in the news for removing all the weigh scales in it's workout spaces. One way to look at scales is, they can be viewed as a tool, choose to use them or not. Certainly less intrusive than one's Mother who's first question when phoning from 6 provinces away was 'how's your weight?'....*big sigh*! 'Great Mom, I don't weigh what I did when I was born, but it's still good'!

COUPON TIME! Grab your coupon here ('til Oct.16).

$20 off a regular priced clothing or accessories purchase of $95.

Ever have those days where it's a struggle to get it together? Example...today, despite the generous, inspirational sunshine, my outfit manages to bear a great resemblance to Johnny Cash. The only thing missing is the guitar, and June Carter!  Some days the 'throw together' just does not 'come together'.  Not trying to promote selfies, but... if in doubt, take one and have a look, as the visual is different from the mirror. That is, if there is no one around to give you a kind, yet honest opinion(if you in fact, want one ;). Better yet, shop in person at Plum, they will definitely help guide your look!

Clashy patterns is really a thing now. The black and white can be treated as neutral to the other chosen pattern. Don't like it? That's ok, mix something up that suits you. Both are a backdrop to the fabulous vest/jacket, however. Add the reverse pockets with zip, long, finger tip length, which elongates the body and you have a great fall piece. Go get one now, I'll wait here!

Kersh bonded Sherpa vest (caramel cream) $88

Acapella long sleeve tie front blouse (black or forest) $89

Kersh printed pencil skirt (brown) $59

Here's a gorgeous contrast textured look that most of us have grown to love, the feminine lace with rugged, worn denim. Above shown with heels, easy to add a shawl or blazer and some great earrings for a girls night out look.

Kersh capsleeve lace top (cream) $65

Emma boyfriend dark R vintage $108

Graphic t's have no trouble mixing it up with other patterns. It works very well if both have at least one colour in common. Paired with this dramatic draped front sweater, brings it up a notch!

Nanavatee open front drapey cardigan (black) $66

Bear Dance 'sorry I'm late' t shirt $35

If pulling it together to you is putting on a dress and going...this simple, fresh design is for you. Wear this with a jean jacket or bomber jacket (very hot right now) and knee high boots for casual dates. The textured fabric has so much stretch; accommodates all your daily bend and flex with no effort.

Simone dress with elbow sleeve (burgundy or green) $139

My Father loved Johnny Cash, so maybe he'd be proud of his 'girl' named Sue...But, even after much more than 30 years (go Hillary) of dressing, sometimes, it just doesn't work out perfectly as planned for me. But that's ok. There's really no one voting for me!

A pattern of choice...

Don't forget to use the $20 off min purchase coupon (September 17 - 27) NOTE our coupon can also be used online!

When you sift through a rack at your favourite store, are you drawn particularly to colour, pattern or are you drawn to how it feels next to your skin? Why one might choose texture first seems fairly obvious, (as an example) eliciting possibly comfort when the touch is soft; colour may provide a clue to your personality, but what about pattern? What first draws you in? The twisted teardrop shape of the paisley, bold colour, cozy bulky knits or the flow of rayon? Let's see what's suits your fancy right now.

Image

The beauty of this paisley print is surpassed only by the fabulous fit. It's wonderful to have a beguiling colour or pattern but if the fit is not there, you're left looking rather awkward. This dress provides a wonderful fit, with well cut sleeves, rushed waist and just the right length. This could easily be the go to dress of the season.

Simone v-neck dress with draped waist (burgundy or navy) $119

Image

Here is a fresh pattern that is just so playful. Very significant this season, showing up in jackets, shawls, poncho's and even skirts. Love how these have been matched with oxfords, but I could easily see them paired with ballet flats or knee high boots with boot cuffs, turtleneck sweater and skirt...lots of room to be creative with these as the starting point.

Guilty poly/spandex legging (various patterns/colours)$25

Image

Incorporating both texture and pattern...the variegated, irregularity of this knitted pattern creates a very handmade, eclectic look, while the interspersed open knit provides an opportunity to show a bit of you...or not. Possibly wear a bold tank beneath. Lots of ways to play with this and easily can go from office to weekend.

Kerisma wool blend v-neck sweater (grey multi) $95 (coming soon)

Image

What better way to edit your work wardrobe but to add a shell top. Clearly a constant paired with a suit, or cardigan, the shell top is best friends with a pencil skirt or crop cigarette leg pants. But this is far from basic. Note the unexpected mesh texture at the yoke. Pull your hair in a pony tail, add bright red lipstick for some punch and you're good to go.

Kaffee Melissa cap sleeve shell top (black/white) $59

When choosing try to draw in what enhances your natural features, along with what suits your personality. Whether you're attracted to particular patterns, colours or textures, keep in mind what may suit your already beautiful features...big voluminous hair, freckles or very dark locks.  Plum staff can help create some looks that work for you. Because the texture and colour of your personality is what you ultimately want to shine through!
