Although the Christmas season has many virtues (read: hot beverages on cold nights, time spent with loved ones, baked goods out the wazoo, and Boxing Day shopping), there's no denying that it can be a stressful time too. Between a hectic schedule, traveling, and a to-do list that sometimes seems to be on the verge of out of control, we have to remind ourselves to take time just for us. And, dare I say it, treat ourselves once in a while? Coincidentally, we'll be announcing another exciting giveaway tomorrow on our Facebook page. Because hey, we like to treat you too.

So what better time for a sale? Now until December 24th, you'll receive 25% off all accessories (excluding Hue hosiery and socks - but you know you're getting socks for Christmas anyway, so no biggy).

A sale like this is a great time to kill two birds with one stone - stock up on gifts and stocking stuffers for the people on your list AND reward yourself for maintaining your sanity. Win-win, friends!

So what do you think? How are you taking time for yourself this busy holiday season?

And don't forget: our ever-popular Kersh open cardigans are still on special - $39 each when you buy two or more! For tips and ideas of how to style them, check out this recent blog post.

Ways to Wear it: The Kersh Cardi

Category:

Image

I have -ahem- several Kersh cardigans in my arsenal. But my absolute favourite is the long, open-style cardi that I bought this fall...in fact, I'm wearing it at this very moment. It goes with juuuust about everything (if you don't believe me, just keep scrolling) and comes in a rainbow of colours, and just so happens to be part of a special promo.

Pair it with jeans and then spice it up with a funky scarf or a statement necklace. I l-o-v-e the contrast between the bold necklace and the Converse sneakers.

Image

To dial the look up a notch, try black jeans or a skirt with printed tights. Go a little bit heavier with the accessories (waist-cinching belt! arm party!) to dress it up.

Image

And finally, for the interview/date night/girls' night/Tuesday night where you just feel like looking special, use the cardi as a topper for a fancier ensemble. A blouse over leather-look denim (get the look here) or an elegant sheath dress are two ways you can go. Gal's got options.

The Kersh open cardigan is available in Black, Cardinal Red, Cherry, Cobalt, Electric Blue, Emerald, Espresso, Grape, Sapphire Blue, Sienna, Teal, Violet, and Wine. But not all colours are available in all of the stores! If you have a colour in mind, call ahead to your Plum store of choice to double check that it'll be there waiting for you. Locations and phone numbers are here.

On Edge

If you are not a sequin enthusiast, you might be feeling a bit lost when it comes to holiday dressing. But good news! There are absolutely ways to dress festively without feeling like a disco ball. A great place to start is with a distinctive top or dress that will act as a base for the rest of your outfit.

Image Image

Beaded collar top in cream and black, $75

This is a perfect example. The beaded collar and the asymmetrical hem are two details that add interest and give your look a little edge. Either colour in this top looks fantastic with black or blue skinnies and a pair of pumps or boots. If you want to take it one step further, pair it with gem-tone leather look Yoga Jeans (as seen in the top picture). The texture of these Yogas will make an amazing contrast with the delicate material of the blouse.

Rhinestone Blouse, in cream and black, $65

Or try something like this top. You can wear it with a black blazer skinnies or tucked into a skirt for a more formal look. Best of all, with an embellished neckline, you never have to worry about matching a necklace! Just pop in some earrings and you're ready for an unforgettable night. And now, an exciting announcement! Can you say Flash Sale?

Holiday Styling

Embroidered Sleeve Blouse, $75, and Sequinned Mini Skirt, in Black and in Chai Melange (pictured) $69

The typical afternoon before a holiday party for me has typically gone one way: try on every remotely festive article in my closet (making a huge mess that I will inevitably have to tidy post-party), panic as I start to realize I have not a thing to wear, and then end up dashing off to the party in an ensemble I am less than excited about. But not this year. This year I am determined to plan ahead and avoid the dreaded holiday party stress mess! With that in mind, I thought it would be good (for all of us) to do a little outfit inspiration.

The beauty of holiday dressing is that once you have a selection of key pieces, you can mix and match to create as many new looks as you want! To illustrate this, let's take a look about how you can create two completely different looks using one base piece.

Image Image

Look one: Glitter Cardigan, in Black and Walnut (pictured), $79, Twist Back Blouse, in Kelly Green and Oyster, $65, Sequinned Mini Skirt, in Black and in Chai Melange (pictured) $69

Look two: Embroidered Sleeve Blouse, $75, and Sequinned Mini Skirt, $69

Some people can get scared off by glitter or sparkles. If this describes you, please refer to my cardinal rule: Just try it on. You may be pleasantly surprised! For example, the reason that these two looks work is because, even though the skirts are sequinned, they are still neutrals. This will up the glam factor without looking over-the-top. You can even try pairing the skirt with a plain t-shirt! The contrast of sparkly with plain is an easy way to create a unique and interesting outfit.

Sequinned Evening Sweater, $89, Art Deco Skirt, $95

If you don't feel inspired by the sparkles, there is always the classic Little Black Dress. This is an absolute fail-safe for an holiday party you might have this season. It's also a great backdrop if you want to experiment with some jewellery to ease yourself into glittery territory.

Monochromatic

Plum Sequin Cardigan, $95, Plum Sleeveless top, $49, Silver floral print Mavi jeans, $98

The monochromatic look (head-to-toe in shades of the same colour) has been a huge trend over the past year. Don't believe me? Check out these celebs owning their monochromatic look.

But how can you take this striking style into the fast-approaching holiday season? - it is upon us, people. Plum's Christmas party is in just ten days! For a look that is on-trend and appropriately festive, I suggest taking silver for a test drive (although these tips work equally well no matter what your colour of preference is).

They key to mastering this style is to look for items in varying shades and textures that complement each other without being over the top matchy. Then, add accessories that work well with this particular look, but can also be paired with the rest of your holiday or formal ensembles. A silver clutch or pair of earrings, for example, will pair well with juuuust about anything. Which is why they make great gifts if you're treating any special women in your life this season.

Finally, polish off your look with a pop of colour on the lips. I like this rich burgundy colour, but feel free to give silver a whirl if you're particularly daring ;) Our stylist mimicked this oxblood shade in a pair of pumps to tie the outfit all together.

So, what do you think? Ready to give the monochromatic look a try this season, or is it not for you? Tell me what you think by leaving a comment here, on our Facebook page, or on Twitter @PlumClothing.
