There's a reason why I'm always drawn to the fashion the 1970's. The era evokes the type of woman I want to emulate: bold, independent, earthy, educated-a woman who holds her own.
Women's fashion showed off a confident, sexy woman unseen in previous decades. Tailored, wide-legged pants, silk blouses tucked in to their waist, wide brimmed hats, waist-cinching blazers and belted, textured knits portrayed the new feminine lifestyle. Womanly maxi skirts and dresses, bohemian accents like fringe and suede, floral prints and indigenous accents evidence the choice and freedom of this period.
I love the interplay of masculine and feminine elements: a structured pant with a billowing, bow blouse; a flowing maxi skirt with a tailored, crisp shirt, and skinny belt; The depth of experience with globetrotter accessories: fringed belts and bags, gemstone jewels. This season I'll be referencing this era with extravagance and soul.
