How would you describe your personal style?
Quintessentially elegant! And I say this not only because of my blog name, but because I've always believed that everyone's personal style is their own take on elegance. I love mixing girly, vintage-inspired elements with more edgy and unexpected pieces. It's all about taking unique risks and feeling glamourous!
What are your greatest sources of fashion inspiration? Any websites you recommend?
Two words: street style. I love photographers that go out into the world and take pictures of ordinary (and sometimes not-so-ordinary) people wearing the most outrageous and amazing outfits. I am currently stalking Mr. Newton's blog, and I'm a lifelong follower of The Sartorialist - but who isn't?
My most recent purchase was...
A gorgeous sky-high pair of peep-toe heels from Aldo. Two-toned with crochet detailing, they are just staring at me from my closet shelf, anxiously waiting for warmer weather!
Speaking of which, what is your biggest shopping weakness?
Oh, this is easy. Boots. I just love them! Leather or suede, black or brown, boots are my ultimate weakness. There's just something about them that makes me feel all happy inside. If I decide to try on a pair in a store, it's almost a given that I will walk out with a smile on my face and a dent in my wallet.
The last movie I watched was...
I saw No Strings Attached with two of my girlfriends a little while ago. Both Ashton Kutcher and Natalie Portman were so great. It was everything a romantic comedy should be! A gorgeous couple to base the story around, a typical cheesy-but-you-knew-it-would-happen ending, and it was downright hilarious. Loved it!
What is your typical daytime errand running outfit?
Usually I'll throw on a cotton dress with an oversized cardigan, tights, a scarf, and flat boots. I am a huge fan of layering, so whenever I plan on a productive day around town it's always a combination of comfortable and breathable. For me, tight clothing is a big no-no!
My biggest accomplishment so far this year is...
Hitting 100 followers on my blog! I can't even imagine that many people caring about what I say, it's just crazy to think about. Also, I'm on my way to finishing Kendi Everyday's 30 for 30 Challenge which has definitely given me a wake up call about my whole wardrobe and spend-spend-spend mentality. I'm starting to really appreciate the items that I already own, no matter if they're fashionably 'off-trend' or a couple years old.
What song/album do you have on repeat lately?
21 by Adele, specifically the song "Someone Like You." I've been listening to it for a couple months and I can't stop. She is my all time favourite artist, with an amazing voice and such an inspiring story. If you haven't listened to the album yet, do yourself a favour - I promise you will fall in love.
Favourite piece in your wardrobe right now, and why?
I am currently gushing over a pair of Sam Edelman leather booties that I purchased in a boxing week sale. They are super high but surprisingly easy to walk in, and they give every outfit that extra little bit of edginess.
What upcoming Spring trends are you looking forward to?
Colour blocking! I'm a neutral-lover, so right now my wardrobe consists of varying shades of beige, grey, and a lot of black. With the warmer weather coming in (soon, I hope!) I can't wait to try out bright and beautiful colours for Spring.
