Image

Not sure you could find more of a boho look than lace or in this case eyelet...and an ecclectic mix of long beads.

Image

Plum is host to some wonderful accessory designers; many made right in Canada. One such company, new to Plum, is Frug. Hand made in Toronto, Frug has created some very unique pieces using mixed media such as brass, cord and semi precious stones, giving their designs a very organic feel.

Frug is coming next week to various locations...stay tuned!

Perhaps you feel compelled to match things...such as this gorgeous statement necklace (you really have to see this close up), paired with a similar tone ring. Giving off a decidedly bohemian or ethnic look. Turquoise is such a fresh, happy colour for spring.

Necklace rope with fans $49

Flower ring $25

ImageImageImage

And lets not forget about the ubiquitous scarf. Look at the many ways it can be transformed.

Look Paris, Italy, New York scarf $38

Image

Not only beautiful with bold, gold hardware this bag is also functional in several ways. Contains a smaller insert but is also reversible...meaning you've now bought 2 bags instead of one. How smart are you!

Jody reversible tote with insert  (4 colour combinations) $69 (not part of BOGO event)

Accessories are as much a part of style as punctuation is to a sentence. Makes it complete, pulls it together and adds emphasis. Speak loudly (add many layers), or softly (one delicate piece). It's all up to you,  Plum merely adds the tools and expertise.

ps...don't forget about the jewellery and scarf bogo event. Limited time only so don't hesitate (April 2 -6).  ... read the full post and reader comments

Digging for Treasure

Being that jewellery is 50% off, with my limited math skills, this means, you can buy twice as much. Feel free to use this rationalization yourself.

Ever notice someone who looks inexplicably stunning? Can't stop staring at them? Then your eyes land on the stunning silver necklaces or bracelets they've chosen. This can be attributed to the correct TCC (tone, contrast and color) choices.  I believe people generally are drawn to what works best on them. For example contrasting with the hair color can be very eye catching. When in doubt however, Plum staff are very well versed in TCC.

Consider all the great real estate around your neck, waiting for the next glorious piece. Never before has there been such a wide variety of styles..bohemian, glam, minimal...so many great things to try. Above, this beautiful turqoise color mixed with the silver etching adds just enough interest to the outfit.

 Image

Change the look of your blouse by adding a statement piece. Works as well with jeans and t shirt, or a jean jacket and skirt. So convertible! (like a mood).

Image

Speaking of jeans and t-shirts, doesn't get much simpler than this incredible ecclectic mix. Like found pieces on a beach trip. Feel free to embellish your story with 'I found these great pieces on a beach and made them myself'. Or you could be generous and tell them you found them at Plum....on sale.

Unfortunately, don't expect to pan for real gold at Plum. However, real treasures need not make a significant dent in your budget. Discover the bewildering choices until July 20th.

Yours in (sparking) Fashion Passion

Attention-Getting Jewellery

What does your jewellery say about you?  When the right piece inspires the outfit, you base your whole look around one statement piece; or you add those finishing touches to pull the outfit together. Because jewellery is the show pieces of your outfit, the pieces you choose and how you wear them are an expression of your personal style.

Jewellery attracts attention because it creates focal points on your outfit. People’s eyes gravitate to the sparkle and then the piece speaks to your personal style. For example, we can tell that a woman is classic and feminine by her string of pearls or her rhinestone necklace. Or, we might find her bold and creative because of her colourful statement necklace or stacks of bracelets. When she wears her sterling silver jewellery with the semi-precious stones, we see her side that is earthy and elegant. By selecting the jewellery for your outfits, you are choosing what people will notice.

How you wear your jewels adds as much of your personal style as the pieces you choose. Because jewellery is less of an investment than clothing, we can afford to experiment with new styles or ways of wearing them. Even a casual tee and your distressed denim are worthy of being dressed up with a rhinestone necklace. If the audience changes, remember the risk is low. Take the piece off and slip it into your purse.

Express your style with jewellery--it’s more than an afterthought.

From now until December 24th, buy one piece of jewellery and get the second piece (of equal or lesser value) for 50% off!

Also Mavi printed jeans for 50% off!

More details on the styles here.

When you want to keep your jewellery understated, add these fine and delicate pieces. Charm necklaces, studs, skinny bracelets and rings are feminine finishing touches.

Image

Make a statement with these bold and colouful jewels. These are the definition of a conversation starter. All you need is a simple backdrop to create a stunning look.

Image

Experiment by layering your necklaces and stacking your bracelets and rings. Don't be afraid to mix and match.  The way you coordinate different pieces together also expresses your personal style.

We've got Feather Fever

One of the biggest trends for spring is feather jewellery. It might seem like a walk on the wild side, but it can actually be very wearable. No doubt about it, a feather necklace or pair of earrings is a statement. So if you’re uncertain, keep the rest of your accessories more minimalist and use a simple outfit as your backdrop.

Don’t be afraid to try feathers on unexpected outfits! (You can do this in the privacy of your own bedroom. If it doesn’t work, no one is the wiser) Just experiment and have fun!

Here is a great example

Image

Big Heart Sweater Available in Black, Blue, Cream, and Grey, $49

I went to our Granville Street location (Granville at 12th) to check out how the gals were showing off all our fabulous feathers. I looove this look! A chunky yet lightweight spring sweater - a little too girly for some with the big red heart - gets a funky boho edge in a snap.

When you get a little more comfortable with feathers, you can go even bolder. Layer your necklaces over a printed maxi dress for an effortlessly original style.

Multicoloured Print Maxi Dress, $98

And now for the really fun part! Because we know that embracing a new trend can sometimes be tricky, we at Plum have decided to give you a little help.

We want to give you a gorgeous feather necklace absolutely, completely, 100% FREE
